He Opens Doors

I started teaching an after-school violin program at Pocomoke Middle School on April the 15th. Wow! I can hardly believe it. I auditioned for the job with a program called "Twinkle in Ten" in late August. I interviewed at the school in early February. They said IF they decided to use me to teach the program I would start sometime in mid April. Well, days went by and by the end of March I thought "Oh well, I guess that door didn't open". The last week in March I had 2-3 different people ask me about the job which was kind of funny to me as Nobody had mentioned it for about a month. Then I got a call from the school that week, asking if I was still interested and before I knew it all the fliers were sent out and everything was ready for the first class on April 15th.

I was a little nervous, not knowing how many or how interested these children would be. Praise God! They have been a great group to work with so far.

I know the Lord opened this door for me as I don't have a college diploma, I don't play in a famous orchestra, I am not one of the best, I'm not 'qualified' ... I have no real, clear, reason for my being here except that He opened this door. Many times over the past 3 lessons I think "what am I doing here? Lord, what should we do next?" He always answers and the children are doing well!

Thank you Lord for this opportunity to shine Your light!

In the presence of who??

The Lord always seems to be giving me Psalm 24. "Lord, I've read this so many times... surely there can't be anything more to it." I thought. I read it anyway and something stuck-out to me that had never before. Verse 5 "Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies..." In the presence of my enemies?? You set a table, a feast, for me to come and relax, to strengthen my physical body, and to spend time with You and You want me to do this in front of my enemies!!
I thought about that and I saw myself facing the many enemies of my day. My 2 jobs, daily chores, errands, appointments, and anything else that can distract me from Him. I can be so busy with "good" things that I don't have time to spend with Him. Then I guess those things aren't so good after all. In the midst of all that is going on I see the table He is preparing. He is calling me to come and give part of my day to the very One who gave me this day. Through it all I must not, I cannot, forget me quiet times with Him, for that is when it is needed the most.

As a side thought the Lord said to give Him 10% in tithes... that would be about 2 hours and 40 min. of our day. How many of us give that much time to sit at His feet, alone. I know I fall very short.

Birthday Blessings!!

Today is daddy Dave's birthday!! We are not big on celebrating birthdays as there are so many around here but we like to have dinner and a cake. I prayed to the Lord that He would give Dave a supernatural birthday gift as I have nothing for him and the Lord answered the prayer. The Lord is so amazing. It was a quick answer!! That morning a bill collector called. Yes, we are still having tests in the finance area. The collector stated they were getting ready to move in the legal direction. Dave said he didn't know how he could pay at this time but knew the Lord was somehow going to work things out. The man said, "What did you say!!" Dave repeated and the man began to pray and prophesy unbelievably and spoke words of life to Dave!!! Dave put the phone on speaker and I wept and wept at how the Lord could use this guy to encourage us!!! I later cried again when someone sent money to Monika and Lee for college and me for a blessing!!!

He daily loadeth us with benefits..Psalm 68:19

Can you imagine seeing a dress you would like to have at Marshall's but you didn't buy because it was too expensive and unnecessary, just show up for free at your doorstep? Well, it happened. Monika and Summer saw a sweet little dress for Ruby at Marshall's complete with jacket and hat. It was way too expensive and totally unnecessary...but not to the Lord. He saw fit to deliver, not only that brand new dress, but many other brand new, name brand clothes that were many of our wants and needs. I just said to Monika last night that I really need some new undershirts. This was a necessity!!! It was only 12 hours later that they were delivered. He knows I don't have time or money to get undershirts. He made it easy and light. I didn't pray for them. He knows what I have need of physically and spiritually before I ask.

As I awoke this morning around 6 am to the beautiful praises that the birds sing to the creator, I was filled with joy. It isn't always like that!!! I was anticipating a new day to love and serve Him and excited about what it would hold for us. I knew mom my would be coming today and we had made some plans, Lord willing. When a friend came by with a car loaded with beautiful brand new clothes and other assorted items, I was close to tears. It was only 8:30 am!! What a great time of fellowship we had as J.J., my mom ,and all read the Bible, prayed, and praised. Just the fellowship would have been enough.

There is so much more to write. My heart is bursting and my cup is full. I have so much more to write on Jamaica and so much of Jamaica on my heart. I have to go back to my vineyard and tend it until He provides time to write. Blessings, Lisa
