NATURALLY DYED EASTER EGGS

It is not too late to dye Easter eggs with natural dyes. My mom did some experimenting in the kitchen and the results turned out pretty awesome. If you want to do it, here are some of the ingredients my mom used for dyes: tumeric, cinnamon, beet root, and hibiscus. Just use a couple of tablespoons of white vinegar as a mordant to 10 ounces of hot water and add a couple tablespoons of natural dye. Let eggs sit in the cups of dye water for 3-5 minutes. Remove eggs and allow them to air dry. These hard boiled eggs are free from synthetic chemicals and are beautiful and delicious. I hope you enjoy trying natural dyes.

Update

So what's been going on lately you may ask?
Well, for one thing there are no more goats on our property right now. Which is a happy and sad feeling. Sad in that we just can't keep them here but happy in the fact that they will no longer be escaping and eating our garden or my clothing! I'm serious! They love to eat clothes and not just any clothes. They seem to particuraly love my clothing. Out of an entire line of clothes they have several times picked out ONLY MY CLOTHES! Arrgghh. At least I have sometimes been able to alter them after they have been chewed up so I can still use them.
And...
Summer has finally gotten her driver's permit. That's right! Clear the road, she's coming through!
Just kidding.. she's doing fine. She is an amazing musician and artist.... she is so stinking creative!

Sophie is growing up. Not much longer until she can get her permit. She has also been skateboarding with the boys and is doing much better than I ever did. :-)

Berty and Ruby have been keeping us laughing at their antics and thoughts on life. Just a few days ago they were running through the house in cowgirl outfits on their hobby horses. So adorable!

The boys  have been skateboarding a lot and are getting pretty good. It's funny to hear them talking about all the tricks they can do or want to do and it reminds me of when Lee and I were little and he was doing the same thing. You would think I would know what they were talking about after hearing Lee for years but no. Even though I may recognize a name or two I have yet to be able to remember the trick that goes with the name.

I am now Auntie for a second time! Which also makes Mom and Dad Grandparents again! My brother and sister-in-law had their second child on Oct. 8th. Jackson Ezekiel Lilley, thier second boy and only 359 days apart! To make it even more exciting this little guy decided he didn't want to wait any longer and was born on the side of the road after only a 3 hour labor! Everyone was fine and is still doing great!

So that was a little update... hopefully I will keep this up. :-)

Still here!

Yes! We are all alive and doing well. Life seems to just keep going!

I am looking forward to a little bit of slowing down in May and will hopefully get to write a little more then... ha. But I can always hope! :-)

It's been awhile since we have updated.... life just keeps rolling along! These goats are teaching me so much... about perseverance and scheduling. I don't always feel like getting up before dawn to milk momma goat but it's not about what I want... it's about what's best for her!
The babies are getting so big. They have provided many a laugh at their funny antics. And let me tell you, they can jump a lot higher than I ever thought they could!
Anybody want to give a good home to a sweet little black nigerian dwarf buck? :-)
*sigh* I can't keep them both!

A New Lilley

No, it's not my Mom this time.

Lee and Jenn are expecting a new little Lilley in Oct. We are all so excited, of course!

Please pray for them as they walk this new road together!

Liberty was sooo tired. I looked at her and said "you are one tired puppy". She smiled and said "woof, woof!"

One night we were watching a video on the book of Acts. We were almost at the part where Stephen yelled "You stiff necked people" to the Pharisees and Jonathan asked: "Isn't this the part where he yells 'you redneck people'?"

A 10% chance of rain means a 90% chance of not raining, right?
Wrong

Seems it means "there-is-a-definite-possibility-of-rain-but-are-only-going-to-a-call-it-a-10% -chance" because it did rain that night.
The night we got 4 round bales of hay for the winter and didn't have the place ready to put them.
Yeah, that would be the night.
So much for thinking optimistically!

Thankfully it was only a light drizzle and it didn't affect the hay.
